Tatmadaw and KNU, clash in Kawkareik

Karen State A fire broke out between KNU Brigade 6 and the Burmese Army in Ywa Thit Village, south of Kawkareik Township, at around 11 am today.

A KNU Brigade 6 official told KIC that the Burmese Army was stopped by KNU Brigade 6 troops in three military vehicles to provide security in Anfagyi village not far from Kawkareik. At present, three Tatmadaw and military vehicles are still at the scene of the shooting, and the villagers are living in their homes and no one is fleeing.

According to local villagers, the Tatmadaw has suffered casualties, but the KIC has not yet confirmed this.
